Twin Power

By Dr. Regina Banks-Hall

Hello Everyone,

Today, I want to talk about motivation and goal achievement. I was watching a video posted by CBS News of two little girls in Savannah, Georgia, who set up a lemonade stand, and called it “Twinmonade.” Soon after, someone questioned whether they had a permit to sell lemonade. This could have been a source of discouragement, yet the young twins soldiered on, secured the needed permit, and marched forward.

After overcoming early head winds, business is now booming, as long lines of people form to support and enjoy a cold cup of their multi-flavored lemonade. Here is a link to their story. https://www.cbsnews.com/video/7-year-old-twins-reopen-successful-lemonade-stand-after-questions-about-permit/

I believe there is a lesson here for all of us. In life we are going to encounter setbacks. The pandemic has been hard to navigate, yet we can still find victory as it relates to our goals, if we hold onto our dreams.

We must take on the attitude of these twins, and press forward. I have been working on a animated character of myself for a educational series I will be creating over the summer. Today I am releasing my first video on motivation in this new format. I did not give up on my goals, but stayed focused to make sure this character was created. Now I am ready to create my educational series, which will cover Leadership, Motivation, Human Resource Management and Small business success. Stay tuned for more ways to subscribe to my training videos and workshops.

I am inspired by these twins, and I know that with faith and hard work, we can achieve our dreams. What lesson can you learn from these twins today?

How do you view success?

The word success often confuses people.   Some people view success by the car they drive, the house they live in, or the people that they know.  Others view success through the lens of their family, happiness, and purpose.  Success for individuals involves a daily unveiling of our lives, and must be defined by our own definitions.   When we define success by others, we allow them to dictate our success.  The key is determining what is important to you and charting a course to fulfill your vision and goals.

For me, I believe that the true meaning of success is not attached to cars, or houses becuase they are things.   We can acquire them and also lose them.   Think about it, how many of us know people with enormous wealth, who are extremely unhappy.   They believe that they are hiding how they feel by using their wealth.  However,  the people around them often can see right through their mask.

Many successful people focus on the impact provided to others, based on what they have created.   Some examples are non-profits, youth camps, education, support groups, job creation, training opportunities, and access to information that improves a person’s standard of living.    These endeavors are important, becuase the goal is to change the lives of others.    Therefore, think about your influence, how you communicate and connect with individuals.   Think about how you add value to yourself and others.    Think about how you want to be remembered.  When you become pleased with your answers, you are defining your level of success.   My closing thought is, that if we are able to live a happy life and make the world a better place, we have achieved success.

cherry-tree-fruit-nature-63312.jpegWe are in the third month of the year, and it is time to review your 2018 success plan.   I have found through one-on-one coaching sessions this year, that fear keeps us from moving forward.  Today, I want everyone to know that fear is an opportunity to create success.

In order to achieve our dreams, we have to consider ourselves a tree that is rooted in principle, purpose, and passion.   We have many branches on the tree, that allows room for growth.   Therefore, utilize the branches available on your tree, and expand your interests and activities into a new direction.  When we take a new direction, we begin to embrace, expand, and cultivate the gifts we have.   Branch out today in a new direction and watch yourself soar.   What new direction will you take today?
